Paweł Wojtowicz was born in 1974, where he went through all of his musical education. His first teacher was the Leader of the Cracow Opera Orchestra, Leszek Skrobacki. In 1997 he gained his Master of Arts degree as a violinist under the guidance of Professor Roman Reiner with his thesis under supervision of Professor M Negrey. The theme of his thesis was “Technical problems and realization in La rondes des Lutines of Antonio Bazza”.

 

In 1998 he successfully auditioned for the position of sub leader of the Cracow Opera Orchestra. From February 2006 he occupies the role of Leader which includes leading the sectional rehearsals, auditioning new members, playing solo parts as required in operas, operettas and symphonic music (including Ravello 2004 – performing the solo part for Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, Die Csárdásfürstin and also the solo violin part for Fiddler on the Roof, playing his own cadenza)

 

He has collaborated as a leader for other orchestras and ensembles such as:

Ballet Classique de Paris Orchestra (1998), Forum SINFONIA, Cracow Chamber Opera  (2004), Wild Wood Festival Orchestra - USA (2003, 2005), Cracow Radio Symphony Orchestra (2007 - 2008) and the Symphony Orchestra of the Cracow Music Academy

 

He has also worked with:

 

Sinfonietta Cracovia, The Bach Academy Orchestra, Cracow Philharmonic, Płock Symphony, OSPR in Cracow , ROS in Cracow, Radom Chamber Orchestra, Częstochowa Philharmonic , Castle Opera in Szczecin, Cracow Chamber Ensemble. Ensemble Brillante Orchestra.

Lukas Beikircher, Jacek Boniecki, Richard Bonynge, Kai Buman, Helmut Ryling, Aurelio Canonici, J. Latham - Koenig, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Stanisław Krawczyński, Tomasz Lida, Tyrone Peterson, Wojciech Michniewski, Ruben Silva, Andrzej Straszyński, Piotrem Sułkowski, Antonio Wit.

 

As a soloist Pawel has taken the stage with such distinguished groups as the Polish National Orchestra during Warsaw Autumn, and many other highly significant occasions, both in Poland and abroad, including giving the world premier of Schaeffer's Fragment II to great acclaim not only in Cracow but also in Warsaw and the USA and during the “Days of B. Schaeffer” festival organized by the Cracow 2000 year of European City of Culture.

 

He also took the stage for the Grand Finale Concert of the Rzeszow  Music Festival alongside Andrzej Białko, Kaja Danczowska, Kazimierz Moszyński, Johann Trummer, Elżbieta Towarnicka.

 

In 2004 he gave a tour of the USA as special guest soloist with the ensemble FORUM SINFONIA performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. He also performed in Austria, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Italy.

 

In 2006 with the Cracow Opera Orchestra he gave Mozart’s Eflat Symphonia Concertante.

 

One of the highlights of his career is his collaboration with the winner of the Chopin competition in Warsaw, Kevin Kenner, who has many positive comments and recommendations to make about Paweł.

As part of the 2007 celebrations of the year of Karol Szymanowski Paweł Wójtowicz gave the II violin concerto, again with the Cracow Opera Orchestra. This took place during the Harnasie spectacle in four cities - Zakopane, Kraków, Tarnów and Nowy Sącz.

 

In 1999 he founded the chamber ensemble Cracovie Ensemble and is their artistic director. The group was the first to record music of the Mexican Baroque in Central Europe and is a highly renowned ensemble. Guest soloists with the Cracovie Ensemble include Kevin Kenner performing Young Apollo (download an excerpt) and also Arkadiusz Babinski presenting pieces by Astor Piazolla. In 2008 he performed in a trio with Mariola Cieniawa (piano) and Dorota Imielowska (cello) with Verano Porteno by Piazolla.

 

In 2005 he was invited to participate in the concert series “Artists for the Cracow Philharmonic” in duet with the percussionist Ryszard Haba.

 

Pawel is a member of the ensemble established by the highly renowned piper Lindsay Davidson.

 

He also performs as the Tibo Duo duet with his wife, Anna

At the Opera Festival in Zarnowiec he was musical director of “Fiddler on the Roof” by J Bock.


His television and Radio recordings include both Poland and USA - TVP, TV Polsat, Radia Rak, PR in Chicago and PTV in Chicago.

 

In 2000 he organized the recording of the CD „Harcerska Piosnka”

 


Paweł is also a very active and succesful teacher and leads his own class in the music primary school of Cracow. He acts as a judge for many violin competitions and also leads workshops. His students frequently gain awards and distinctions in violin and chamber music competitions.

 

He established, is the main organizer and artistic director of the educational course Wiosna Młodych Kameralistów in Cracow and also the founder of the Vivaldi 330 violin competition.

 

In 2005 and 2007 he was honoured by the President of the City of Cracow, Professor Jacek Majchrowski with a diploma and award for his highly notable successes as an educator.

 

Pawel publishes many articles on music education and is often consulted by the media as a specialist.

 

He composed incidental music to the play, “Anheli” by J Slowacki, presented by the Cracow Politechnic and has published a set of educational miniatures for violin  "Magical Tree for three violins' - an educational collection of enjoyable (both to listen to and play) pieces for young violinists, (2005 by PWM) and also “Red Apple Tree - Studies in double stopping on violin” by Contra Publishers, in 2007.
